is important that users of the website limit their personal information because criminals can use it against them”, Mr. Peter Agblor, Director-General of CID, announced in Accra.

He gave the warning when he briefed newsmen about a woman who was victimized by the syndicate.

Mr. Agblor said the victim (name withheld) in May this year applied for United States visa to pursue a Master's degree at Madison University in the State of Virginia, USA.

He said upon receiving the application, the US State Department requested from the victim whether she had ever applied for a US visa; she answered in the negative and was denied the visa.

Mr. Agblor said the victim later received a mail from one Charles Obeng also known as Kofi Konadu now on the run and believed to be the leader of the syndicate, introducing himself to her and apologizing for using her personal details to acquire a visa.

He said the suspect asked the victim to send 2,000 dollars to one Agnes Konadu to enable her collect details of the visa from another woman, Ophelia Asante.

Mr. Agblor said the victim informed the Police and during investigation, arrested the two women who confirmed to the Police that they knew the suspect.

He therefore called for cooperation from the public to expose members of the syndicate.

In another development, the police, upon a tip-off, last week arrested an alleged drug peddler operating around Pokuase near the Railway Line.

Mr. Agblor said the suspect Kobla Boahene, 19, was arrested with 138 wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp as well as quantities in a polythene bag.

He told newsmen that Behene had been convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.

Mr. Agblor said the Police would not relent in their efforts to flush out drug barons and peddlers in the country.
